    The following information will go over switching the NeuroNode from EMG mode to Spatial using the NeuroNode Controller application. This will also cover some of the basic settings in Spatial.

    Switch to Spatial:

    1. Connect the NeuroNode to the NeuroNode Controller application 
    2. Select the Menu button on the bottom left
    3. Select Advanced > Spatial Control
    4. Toggle on Spatial Switching

    The NeuroNode will now be tracking Spatial control rather than EMG control. The following section will go over the spatial settings.

    1. Spatial Sample Rate: 400Hz
      1. This is the rate at which spatial movement is recorded and sent in the NeuroNode
      2. Setting to 400Hz allows it to be more accurate with smaller/constant movements while 200Hz will work better for when smaller/secondary movements are trying to be removed from graphing
    2. Spatial Sensitivity: 2g
      1. This changes how strong the signal is when a movement is made
    3. Spatial Graphing section
      1. The three switches here (X, Y, Z) represent the various spatial control axis. When turned on the axis will display on the graph.
      2. If you need to determine which of these axes are activated during a particular patient movement, turn on the switches for “X Coordinate”, “Y Coordinate”, and “Z Coordinate” and observe to determine the axis with the clearest activity (high activation peak as compared to a flat resting level).
        1. Each of these Coordinates will track the spatial movements in their respective directions, X: Left and Right, Y: Forward and Backward, Z: Up and Down. NOTE: This is dependent on the orientation of the NeuroNode and recognizes the movement in comparison to the position and movement of the NeuroNode
    4. Coordinate Scaling
      1. Each slider changes how much of the movement, in its respective direction, is recorded and sent to the graph. (Ex. 1g of movement, with Coordinate X at 50% scaling, would be seen as 0.5g on the graph)
      2. It is advised to initially set them all to 100% for observation.

    Now that Spatial is on and the settings have been set you can press “OK” at the top, go back to “Settings”, and select Graph. You will notice on the graph the numbers on the side are showing from 0-1.0g (grams) instead of 0-100μV (microvolts). When in Spatial mode the graph settings are the same as when EMG mode except for the unit of measurement (g –> μV). You will also see any axis turned on within the “Spatial Graphing” section.

    In order to pinpoint the appropriate axis for the patient attach the NeuroNode and observe the patient as they relax and then activate (or initiate the intended movement). Typically there is one (or two) axis lines that receive the most or an equal amount of activity from the movement. You can return to the Spatial Control settings under Menu > Advanced and turn off any axis under the “Spatial Graphing” section that is not reactive to movement. You can also lower the Coordinate Scaling to 0% for any axis line that received little to no activity on the graph.

    Things to remember! These settings are depending on the orientation of the NeuroNode. The placement of the NeuroNode and the way it is orientated have to be the same in order for you to continually use these same settings. If the position changes you may need to check the X, Y, Z coordinates again to ensure they are working as intended.
